New Jobs in Gwinnett County

There’s some good news for Atlanta residents, as it was just announced that QualTex Laboratories will be expanding its operations to add jobs in Gwinnett county (click here).

Despite the slow economy, Gwinnett County is attracting several new businesses, which equals new jobs.

For instance, in the past five days, 525 new jobs have been announced in Gwinnett County.

According to 11alive.com, on Tuesday, San Antonio-based QualTex Laboratories announced that it would be expanding its operation to Norcross. QualTex is a medical company that screens blood and plasma donations.

By this summer, QualTex will be running an operation out of an office building in Norcross. The company plans to invest more than $12 million in that building over the next five years. They also plan to hire about 125 new employees.

QualTex was attracted to Gwinnett County because of the strong workforce. “We decided that the Atlanta metro area was is the best place because of the innovation in this area, because of the fact that we could get the right sized facility for our needs and the fact that we can hire qualified staff in the metro area was a great incentive for us to come here,” said QualTex Laboratories President and CEO Dr. Norman Kalmin.

And there was more good news: last week Web Industries in Gwinnett announced that it would be adding as many as 250 new employees and electronics contract manufacturer Spectral Response announced they would be adding about 150 new jobs.

“We happened to have a plan in place in 2006 called Partnership Gwinnett which got us very focused on targeting high paying industries,” Gwinnett County Chamber of Commerce Vice President of Economic Development Nick Masino said Tuesday. “We ramped up our initiative in 2007. At the same time this economic crisis began. We were ready for it. We were prepared for it. That’s why as a region, we’re doing better than the rest of the southeast.”

Web Industries’ web site says this about the new hires: Web Industries is a leader in the field of contract manufacturing of flexible materials. We have grown to six locations in the United States with nearly 400 associates.

As a 100% employee owned company, all of our associates have the opportunity to share in the success of the company. Along with that comes a shared responsibility to meet our commitments, to our customers, to each other and to the communities in which we live and work.

Web Industries is not your typical corporation. We really care about our people and believe in empowering individuals to reach their full potential while maintaining a healthy balance between work and family.

QualTex has already started recruiting new employees in Norcross. They’re hiring people for their labs, data center and administrative staff.
