Atlanta Seasonal Jobs with Six Flags
Those looking for Atlanta seasonal jobs may soon be in luck as one large amusement park operator plans to hire.
Six Flags Over Georgia and Six Flags White Water has announced its plan to hire more than 2,400 seasonal workers for a variety of jobs in the Atlanta area. Open positions are available in food services, games, park services, loss prevention, ticket services, human resources, toll booths, security, merchandising, cash control, ride operations and lifeguards.
According to an article by the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Six Flags plans to host a job fair from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Six Flags Over Georgia Crystal Pistol. Candidates must be at least 15-years old and will be required to go through several screenings and interviews. Those interested can fill out an application at Six Flags Jobs Web site.
Anyone hired will work during the company’s seasonal employment schedule, which includes weekends Feb. 28 through May and August to Nov. 1, and weeks April 3 to 13 and May 22 to Aug. 9.
With any luck, the seasonal jobs might help boost Atlanta’s declining economy. The Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta area had a total non-farm employment of 2,422,000 workers during November 2008, according to the United States Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is down from 2,433,700 workers during October 2008 and a 2.7 percent decrease from last year.
The Atlanta area had an unemployment rate of 7 percent during November, up from 6.7 percent during October and higher than the national unemployment rate of 6.7 percent.
