Atlanta Jobs with Fortune 500 Companies

During May, the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta area saw its unemployment rate increase from 9 percent to 9.6 percent. This came as a disappointemnt to many, who saw a slight glimmer of hope when the unemployment rate decreased from 9.1 percent to 9 percent during April.
The area had a total non-farm employment of 2,316,400 workers during May, according to the United States Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is down from 2,318,400 workers during April and a 5.6 percent decrease from last year.
While those are bleak numbers, there are some large companies in the area that are usually hiring. For instance, there are 19 Fortune 500 companies in Atlanta alone. Perhaps most notably, Atlanta is home to Coca-Cola and Coca-Cola Enterprises.
Coca-Cola was founded in 1886 and currently owns four of the top five non-alcoholic sparkling beverage brands. The company has 92,400 associates throughout the world and its operations reach more than 200 countries. Coca-Cola serves nearly 1.6 billion consumers every day and has more than 3,000 products.
Coca-Cola Enterprises is the world’s largest marketer, producer and distributor of Coca-Cola products. The company operates in 46 states throughout the country and Canada and is the exclusive bottler for Belgium, continental France, Great Britain, Luxembourg, Monaco and the Netherlands.
