Harvest Partners, a private equity firm, has announced they made an investment in Insight Global, a company that helps staff IT jobs in Atlanta.

According to a press release, Insight Global, based in Atlanta, Georgia, is one of the fastest-growing providers of information technology staffing solutions in North America, with nearly $350 million in annual sales. Insight Global operates a nationwide network of 21 regional offices, providing exceptional staffing solutions and customer service to more than 1,500 customers. Insight Global fills nearly 10,000 IT staffing placements each year for a diverse range of Fortune 1000 corporations in end markets such as technology, healthcare, energy, telecom, financial services, and government.

Delta Airlines says it has about 1,000 new openings across the U.S. and will be hiring for transportation jobs in Atlanta.

Positions include pilots, flight attendants, and other carrier jobs. Reservation agents and customer service agents are also in demand.

The Atlanta-based airline said it expects about 65,000 applicants to respond to the 1,000 openings due to the lackluster economy. Delta’s CEO said the response has already been overwhelming, and Delta has become inundated with applications.

Virgin Mobile is getting creative when it comes to helping create Atlanta jobs.

According to a press release from the company, the unemployment rate in Atlanta is 9.9 percent, which is higher than the national average of 9.7 percent. According to the Department of Labor, the number of unemployed workers in the Atlanta metro area, increased by 3,113 to reach 262,571.

To help local residents in Atlanta, Virgin Mobile is partnering with JobsDirectUSA to host a Pink Slip Party that allows job seekers to connect with recruiters of companies looking to hire and network in a relaxed and casual environment - think speed dating for the unemployed. (more…)
