First Data Creates Hundreds of Finance Jobs in Atlanta

First Data, a Fortune 500 payments processor, is creating about 350 finance and clerical jobs in Atlanta.

The jobs are headed to Cobb County over the next 18 months as First Data continues to consolidate its operations in metro Atlanta.


Firm Creates 25 New Tech, Engineering Jobs in Gwinnett County

Web Industries’ Suwanee plant is expanding its operations to create 25 high wage engineering and technician jobs in Gwinnett County, according to

The company is investing $6 million to meet anticipated demand.

The company needs to invest to be ready to handle that increased demand, which is why it is making the $6 million investment, building out a large part of the Horizon Drive facility’s infrastructure by adding such things as large freezers and specialized processing rooms – and also hiring a number of process technicians and engineering positions.

“We are in a market where we process some advanced composites. And we have some long-term contracts, primarily for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft,” said John Jaskot, general manager for the company’s Atlanta operations. “As that program is really literally taking off, the production demands are ramping up rather rapidly. The demand for that aircraft for us is going to be multiplying six times over the next three years.”

Big Companies Create IT, Manufacturing Jobs in Atlanta

More and more big businesses are setting up shop in Georgia’s capital, creating hundreds of new IT and manufacturing jobs in Atlanta, among other industries.

Atlanta is attracting some big names. According to, a string of headquarter relocations and consolidations have included mobile phone giant Sony Ericsson, which announced in November that it would move its North American headquarters from Research Triangle Park, N.C., to Atlanta.

The move combined its North America region and its Latin America region, based in Miami, to create Region Americas in Atlanta.

Other recent wins include the Belgian solar company Enfinity Corp. with Americas headquarters in Sandy Springs; tax advisory firm CCH Small Firm Services, with corporate headquarters in Kennesaw; and aluminum giant Novelis Inc. with North American headquarters heading to Buckhead.


New Jobs in Gwinnett County

There’s some good news for Atlanta residents, as it was just announced that QualTex Laboratories will be expanding its operations to add jobs in Gwinnett county (click here).

Despite the slow economy, Gwinnett County is attracting several new businesses, which equals new jobs.

For instance, in the past five days, 525 new jobs have been announced in Gwinnett County.
