Atlanta Real Estate Jobs Cut with CB Richard Ells Inc.

A small number of Atlanta real estate jobs will soon be cut.

CB Richard Ells Inc. recently announced its plan to cut five to 10 positions from the company’s Atlanta office. The Atlanta job cuts will include some commercial real estate brokers, according to an article by the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

“CB Richard Ellis regularly reviews its operations to ensure that our costs are aligned with the business environment,” John Ferguson, managing director of the Atlanta office, said in the article. “In light of the continued market weakness, we have been focused for the past year on cost containment in all aspects of our business.


Atlanta Careers to be Lost Near 50,000

More than 50,000 workers will lose their Atlanta careers this year.

According to the recent U.S. Conference of Mayors study, Atlanta is expected to lose 50,900 jobs during Q4, making the city seventh among the top 10 places to lose jobs during 2009. The study was prepared by IHS Global Insight, according to an article by the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

The Atlanta area is no stranger to job losses. During November 2008, the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta area had a total non-farm employment of 2,422,000 workers, according to the United States Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is down from 2,433,700 workers during October 2008 and a 2.7 percent decrease from last year.


Atlanta Seasonal Jobs with Six Flags

Those looking for Atlanta seasonal jobs may soon be in luck as one large amusement park operator plans to hire.

Six Flags Over Georgia and Six Flags White Water has announced its plan to hire more than 2,400 seasonal workers for a variety of jobs in the Atlanta area. Open positions are available in food services, games, park services, loss prevention, ticket services, human resources, toll booths, security, merchandising, cash control, ride operations and lifeguards.

According to an article by the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Six Flags plans to host a job fair from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Six Flags Over Georgia Crystal Pistol. Candidates must be at least 15-years old and will be required to go through several screenings and interviews. Those interested can fill out an application at Six Flags Jobs Web site.


Atlanta Retail Jobs Available with Kohl’s

More Atlanta retail jobs will soon be available as a large department store expands.

Kohl’s is planning to open two new stores, in Canton and Milton, a move expected to create 300,000 jobs in Atlanta. The company says it’s looking to hire associates for customer service, department service, cash register operation, early morning stocking, truck unloading, housekeeping and evening signage and pricing updates.

Kohl’s is hosting a job fair Jan. 11 to 15 at The Best Western – Mountain Villa Inn and Suites in Canton and The Hilton Garden Inn – Atlanta North Point in Milton. Full- and part-time positions are available, according to an article by the Atlanta Business Chronicle. Kohl’s, based in Menomonee Falls, Wis., operates 1,004 stores in 48 states, including 21 stores in the Atlanta area.


Police Officer Jobs in Atlanta Receive Pay Cuts

Those with police officer jobs in Atlanta received some bad news during the holidays.

The City of Atlanta recently announced its police officers would receive a 10 percent pay cut. The city was forced to cut hours and pay because of a budget crisis, according to an article by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Most officers will be seeing a loss of four work hours per week.

“Clearly, with the 10 percent reduction in our resources, we will have some shortages,” George Turner, Atlanta police Deputy Chief, said in the article. “We’ll be doing everything we can to fill those gaps.”
